What are Muqarnas Supplements?
Supplements to Muqarnas: Studies and Sources on Islamic Art and Architecture, focus on textual primary sources for visual culture. Eleven of these volumes have now been published, the latest of which is Howard Crane and Esra Akın’s Sinan’s Autobiographies: Five Sixteenth-Century Texts, with introductory notes, critical editions, and translations by the authors, edited by Gülru Necipoğlu, whose preface considers the sources, themes, and broader implications of the autobiographies. Published by Brill in 2006, this important source book for the life and works of the great Ottoman chief architect, Sinan, is available through the publisher.
